About NOMP
We are set up as a 501(c)3 through the U.S. government and have formed an LLC in the State of Louisiana. Any financial donation you make towards this effort is 100% tax deductible. We also encourage businesses from around the globe to partner with us on a variety of levels.
This project is designed to raise funds to help our beloved musicians. Over the years, our music community including artists and gig workers have put on stellar performances for hundreds of thousands of people.
These professionals were not able to work for two years due to the pandemic, and while one might think we’re “out of the woods,” we are nowhere near close. Some still have a tough time booking gigs and a few of our subjects have fallen ill. Now is the time to help them out and part of the fundraising is also meant to produce more of these episodes.
While one-off documentaries have included New Orleans musicians in the past such as Dave Grohl’s “Sonic Highways” (2014), and Robert Mugge’s “New Orleans Music in Exile” (2006), New Orleans is deserving of a focused, all-inclusive documentary series of storytelling from the city’s legendary musicians.
Nothing like this has been done previously. And we’re just getting started with this project! We have been capturing these musical gems and documenting their history. The format includes intriguing interviews and live performance footage, exclusive to the New Orleans Musicians Project.
